Shaws Celebrate Twentieth Wedding Anniversary at Tabor Home
Mr and Mrs Joseph Shaw celebrated their twentieth anniversary last Saturday at their home five miles southwest of Tabor. A crowd gathered at 11 visited to graphophone music by Charles Hiler followed by a bountiful dinner. Music came from Isaac Jackson and Joseph Shaw on violin and organ. Guests departed around 4 with well wishes for many more happy anniversaries. Attending were Mr and Mrs Henry Shaw and three children Everett Earnly and Earley Mr and Mrs Wilson Haden and two daughters Mr and Mrs King and daughter Mrs Kings father visiting Mr and Mrs Brown Mr and Mrs Hiler Mrs Sutton and daughter Mr and Mrs Blackburn and three sons and daughter Mr and Mrs Isaac Jackson and baby Distance guests included Mr Raymond Marrow and wife and Miss Edith Shaw from Council Bluffs.

Post Office Inspector Fines Man in Blockton Case
A post office inspector visited Blockton last week and fined a man 16 dollars for violating postal laws by writing a note on a newspaper margin and mailing it as third class matter. The rule covers all written matter, and no one may write on the newspaper margin to mail it as a newspaper.

Glenwood Library Opens with Community Support
The Glenwood library opened Monday evening February 4 with strong attendance. Addresses by Mrs Hill Dr Plimpton John Y Stone and Judge Green followed music by the Institutions orchestra. The Woman s Club donated about 1428 books while the city purchased 187 more. Individual gifts included 28 books from Mr Marsh 30 from Mr Hanson 38 from N T Bradway 2 from Rev Brainerd 3 from Mrs L W Russell 1 from Wingate Gibbs 1 from Mabel Gibbs 1 from Mr and Mrs Lord 8 from H A French 8 from Mrs P D Foster 5 from Mrs C W Sherfey a complete Bulwer set Dr DeWitt s Six Thousand Years of History Washington Irving Macaulay England and Dickens sets from donors. At present 175 people borrow books and 476 have been loaned. Country residents are taking books and reading rooms see improving patronage. Nine top magazines and a daily paper are added. Receipts and fines total 1.30 with ten cent fund 60. Library hours 9 to 11:30 am 2 to 5 pm and 7 to 9 pm. reading rooms open whenever the library is. Emma Beckman Librarian.

James C. Maguire, veteran north-route mail carrier from Malvern, says in four years he has logged about 1,400 miles, a journey equivalent to one and a quarter circumnavigations, as he heads home after the travels.

Auditor Agan states that 35,832 gophers were captured in Mills County during 1908, with a bounty of 10 cents each, totaling 3583.20 dollars spent on gopher extermination. Wolf bounties paid amounted to 119 dollars, with 5 dollars for adult wolves and 2 dollars for cubs.
