Dad Gladgett of Essex Shenandoah Dies at York Neb
The Shenandoah World recalls Dad Gladgett known as a long time hotel keeper in Essex and Shenandoah who died in York Nebraska. A traveling man once sparred in a swearing match but Dad stopped after their exchange and later joined the Methodist church remaining a faithful member until death.

Pittsburg Virginia June 16 to August Clondeaux 42 years old Ford City expert class worker leaves for New York en route to Belgium with wife and twenty four children. He brings a fortune in the glass industry in the Allegheny valley. He and his wife came to the country twenty one years ago. The family is happy and Clondeaux is joyous as he departs. He is a baseball lover and notes the score 24 to 0 reflecting all 24 children survive.

Iowa's Oldest Horse Cox Owns 48 Year Pony
Iowa farmer near Parragut owns what is believed to be the state’s oldest horse, a pony now 48. The animal’s long history includes a 38 year voyage from Texas to Iowa, then Virginia, and finally to John Cox, who has kept her since. The pony weighed around 400 pounds, is a cross between a cow pony and a larger breed, with good eyesight and a gray head and breast.
