Pacific Junction Bridge Fire Delays Trains Briefly
A small blaze on bridge 180 two miles west of Pacific Junction, near the Burlington line, was spotted early Sunday morning June 17 by a rear brakeman on an extra westbound freight. Fire crews fought the flames, repairing the structure quickly and delaying trains less than three hours. The cause remains unclear despite tin and gravel covering the bridge to prevent sparks. The report also notes Seventh Day Adventists organizing a church after recent tent meetings led by Rev. W. G. White.
