Monument for Bill Nye Proposed by Humorists

A three year old plan gains new life as the American Press Humorists raise funds to erect a monument in Laramie to Bill Nye of the Boomerang. Nye, famed humorist and former Laramie editor, died in 1896. The project envisions a public tribute in Nye’s memory backed by speeches and entertainment in Los Angeles during the convention week.

Rail coach side doors hailed as future rail safety feature

Rail novelty talk spreads from Union Pacific to New Haven and New York. Side doors may replace end doors, offering quicker egress and stronger construction. Newer coaches would feature round windows, a patent ventilator, and a central passage. Safety hinges on rail locking devices and shrub snow fences to blunt winter delays.
