The regular school board meeting elected the coming year’s public school teachers. Four new instructors join the staff: Miss Currie Du Val from Sidney, Miss Fannie Ames, Miss Mary Scott, and Miss Essie Starbuck. The board retained most current teachers. W. H. Port remains superintendent and Miss Jessie Nutting principal.
The board of supervisors reduces pauper allowances and calls for strict scrutiny of charity claims. Investigations show some recipients lack rightful claims and township trustees may overstate need. April outlay neared a thousand dollars, with concerns about misappropriation and premium on laziness.
In Chicago the World's Pairs show features a dairy test across Jerseys Guernseys and Shorthorns to compare milk yield butter fat and cheese. Jerseys lead in milk and cheese output while Holstein participation failed. A second butter test runs sixty days from May 31 to August 28 under strict impartial methods with a seven-member testing committee.

A quilt fundraiser will follow with proceeds donated to the Christian Home at Council Bluffs. Members joke about gender roles and boast of quilting work for benevolent institutions.
