A large group of Glenwood Exchange subscribers met in the courthouse to debate the company’s rate increases from 25 to 76 percent. They urged improved service, suggested business-only calling hours, and proposed safeguards like limiting party lines and deducting service outages from dues while maintaining calls for business use. A resolution committee adopted measures to press for better service and fair billing.
The next day Justice Goodrich imposed a fine and penalties while Rev Jones languishes. A curious tale notes a preacher wearing a 23 pocket coat with 13 pockets in the back, a sign of fate tempting behavior. The piece hints at belief in omens and spirits amid church and community.
David Hankinson son of Mr and Mrs Ben Hankinson Plattsmouth died Tuesday December 31 after mastoid tumor surgeries at an Omaha hospital. He spent much of the last year with grandparents Mr and Mrs Louis Hurst in Glenwood. Funeral services were held in Omaha on New Years Day from a Jewish synagogue.
A Friday contest on December 20 at the West schen building offered a prize for a 6th grade composition and delivery on Red Groga Work. Four boys and two girls competed for careers. The prize went to Burr Raprick after a close contest. HM: Logan, Jay Graham and Mul Mary Rabeke were mentioned.

Sheldon in Mary Hodges vs. Powles, with a $1600 bond. several cases were dismissed or settled with costs taxed to plaintiffs. a divorce action by Waneta Fike against Rex Pike was dismissed. multiple notes and equity suits were settled or dismissed. A Denver reader praised Christmas weather in Colorado, while local notes discuss farmers organizing via the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation and a Jackson Christmas dinner held in Omaha with thirty-one attendees.
