Holiness and Baptist Bible schools outline Sunday schedules with multiple services 9:45 Sunday school 11:00 morning worship and 7:30 evening service. Midweek and choir activities listed. W F Hill of Glenwood lists nursery stock fruits ornamental garden seeds and chicks including Delicious and Gold Delicious grapes available to insure spring delivery. Tom Barron of S C White Leghorn hatching eggs priced at five dollars per hundred for first pen and four fifty for second. also Ancona eggs at five dollars per hundred. W Carl Wilson of Malvern promotes book orders and winter layers.
A Rex Theatre promotion on February 20 drew three prize winners from duplicate tickets. A girl selected ticket 866 awarding Karl Miller a Wolison phonograph, ticket 1648 to Charles Lewis for a gold ring, and ticket 744 drawn by J A Swope for the lava lamp.
The Methodist Sunday school youth class held a Friday evening party at teacher Mrs Clyde Rhoads home to honor the winning young men. Officers and committee chairs were elected including President Bryan Maxwell and secretary treasurer Mrs Cb D Wheeler. Members discussed other business and played games.
Indulged guests enjoyed a late hour with sandwiches angel food cake and ice cream described as a very pleasant evening in the report.
Neighbors planned a February 14 celebration for Mr. and Mrs. Art Divang’s tenth anniversary. Death in the community delayed plans and on February 21 two score visitors surprised the couple at home. The gathering produced tinware keepsakes and joyful memories for all.
In Hastings last Monday night Mr and Mrs Jid Hathaway hosted a unique party with old fashioned games and a hard times lunch of crackers peanut butter water and toothpicks. Guests included Lloyd Owens Walter Mason Ted Lockabill M E Cupp Roy Quimby H P Reu A C Hodges Rea Shepard Ed Hathaway W P Crow and D M Cook in costume for the event.
