Glenwood Notes On Local Visits And Moves In 1910s

A Glenwood roundup reports visitors and departures including A Snields visiting Omaha, Miss Wolfe starting the millinery season at the Fair Store, and Clarice Rist visiting from Omaha. Walter Boyce plans to move near Wayne Neb to farm 160 acres. J D Boyce also to Wayne for the season. Mrs Will Perdue hosted parents from Atlantic. Percy Rist aimed to enlist in the aviation corps, but enlistment was closed. Dr B F Ward inspected local stock, and T J Knopp has moved to Wayne. Mrs E V Agler and baby Mary Colleen plan an indefinite visit with Warren family. Some attendees to Clarinda I O O F convention returned Wednesday. County figures W B Woods visited, a Mills County court case against Wabash noted, and W Woods’ career path recounted.

Town Mail Service Disrupted by Staff Illness

Morning reports from the government say 14 below zero as city mail carrier Clardite Butcher grapples with “hiberty” measures and will suspend his rounds for a few days. Marki Young steps in, familiar with town duties, to handle deliveries. Glenwood Rebekahs attending a Clarinda convention include Mesdames Roy Lewis, James Sawyers, W. P. Creech, Art Byers, J. L. Ross, Fred Raine, Neil DeWeese, Thomas Nixon, B. M. Sutton, Win Owens, F. B. Shuffler. The I O O F band returning from Clarinda missed No. 9, forced to stay overnight in Villisca and catch No. 6. those in bed at 2 a.m. rose at 4:30 a.m. Only to learn No. 6 was two hours late.
