Malvern resident Sherman Jones visits Glenwood while Benton, Hastings, and Council Bluffs connections show active business and school matters. Ledger notes court business, jury duty, farm shipments, I O O F delegations, and community events including church activities and a planned armory construction from Ora Lee.
The Choral Union will meet every Monday night at 7 45 sharp in the Congregational church basement for rehearsals and ensemble work.
Last Friday at the R E B Cogley ice plant an accident caused a dislocation of James Shafer’s collar bones and a bruised left shoulder. An ice lift malfunction sent blocks into a pond striking him as the lever tripped early. Dr. Agan treated the injuries, and Shafer is recovering but unable to lift much for several days, delaying sea packing at the plant.
Tuesday morning at her home in Glenwood the death of Mrs. Trisher followed weeks of illness. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at the Christian church by Rev. Thompson with Rev. Howard Mintle assisting. She leaves five children and was active in several local organizations. Also noted: Mrs. Marian Kemp died at her son's home in Folsom after paralysis, with burial in New York. Frank Kemp to move back east. Mrs. Fred W. Long, maiden Gaston, died in San Antonio and burial will be in Tabor. she and Rev. Long were former Tabor College graduates.
Two school teams, East Siders and West Siders, opened with a gentler game as Omaha Reserves faced Glenwood's Company V. Company I surged to win 27 to 8, claiming a second victory of the season on Wednesday night February 18.
A local notice offers a subscription to the Omaha Daily News in exchange for a copper clad range donated by Harry Wilkins of Malvern Iowa. The advertisement promises a free Copper Clad Range as part of the trade.

Lumber for sale cheap as Ora Lee begins wrecking the old John Wright livery stable. Pleasant Grove school hosts a pre social and patriotic program Saturday night February 21 with ladies asked to bring a pie.
Mills County District Court fixes Feb 5 1914 as time to prove instrument alleged to be the last will and testament of India Coffinan deceased. Hearing to occur at the Glenwood courthouse with objections heard by the court. Dated February 18 1914. Clerk Walter S Brown Deputy.
