A local ice supply update and social events at Institution Kensington reflect community activity.
Glenwood Granite Works warns that a looming labor dispute between the Manufacturers Association and Workmen's Union could trigger higher wages and prices. With a March 1 expiration, the firm projects possible strikes or compromises raising costs for rough stock and monuments. Direct sales offered from Glenwood plant.
The Glenwood high school holds a declamatory contest at the opera house Friday night featuring Vocal Solo Scott McClure and the Oratorical Class with items by Clyde Merritt Eugene Hale Paul Gilliland Wayne Bogare Watson and more. Judges will decide the winners from performances by a full slate of students including solos trios and humorous pieces from the Glee Club and drama selections such as The Soul of the Violin Hand Car The Heart of Old Hickory and For Dear Old Yale among others.

Coppock hosted his brother Wesley from Omaha. Mr and Mrs Bell returned from four weeks with her daughter in Lewis. Mrs Henry Darnell visited her brother W H Tittle in Glenwood. Mr and Mrs Bert Coombs shopped in Omaha Tuesday and Wednesday. A ten pound girl was born Tuesday to the Fred McLaughlin family near Emerson. Inez Oglevie visits Fremont with her sister Mrs Phil Burt. Hunter Steen and family move to a farm near Lorimer. High school pupils enjoyed a valentine party Friday at the Randolph Salmons home. Word from Red Oak says Kelley Oaks is improving after a serious spell. Dr and Mrs E A Merritt welcomed a son last Wednesday. The Merritts now have a boy and a girl. Friends of Uncle Brad Reasoner visited last week as he turned 80. Mrs Will Snodgrass is improving after a serious time. sisters L B Wickersham and J B Kelley were in town. M L Evans left for Decora Illinois due to his father Jack Evans’ illness. Mrs Evans left Monday evening with word his condition worsened.

In Silver City reports a tight game ended 27 to 28 as the high school yielded by a single point. J E Burger plans to move to Wayne Nebraska to take up farming for the season.
