German aliens in Mille County must register at designated post offices during February 4 to 9. All residents over 14 face enforcement. known delinquents will be turned over to the U S marshal. Public notice urges compliance and warns of penalties.

Obituary for Henrietta Fischer Near Balfour

Mrs Henrietta Fischer died at her son Detlef H Fischers home near Balfour January 21 1918. Born November 12 1887 at Klatkamp Schleswig Holstein she came to America with husband Johann Detlef H Fischer and four children in 1882 arriving Mineola in April. Survived by husband two sons Frederick Christian Fischer Minneapolis and Detlef J Fischer Balfour and Mrs Maria Dorothea Finn of Brunswick Mo plus 11 grandchildren. Age 80 years 2 months 9 days.

Married at College Springs Ill Leroy White Rose Ward

The marriage of Leroy White and Rose Ward took place in College Springs Ill on Saturday January 26. The bride is well known in Glenwood as her father Rev CM Ward once served the local Methodist church. The couple will reside on a farm four miles north of Sidney.

Aurora borealis triggers abnormal earth currents disrupting telegraph and telephone lines. Measurements show potential from 425 volts positive to 22 volts negative with about 2000 ohms resistance.
