Glenwood High School Orators Spark Large Congregational Crowd
A large Glenwood High School audience heard students compete in three oratorical contests at the Congregational church. Judges included Supt. Rouse, Prof. Lane, and Dr. Plimpton. Prizes offered were 15 in each class for oratorical humorous and dramatic. First place went to Stanley Curtis, with Collier Billington second and Marion Lutz third. Other speakers were Leon Ward, Paul Gilliland and Dale Skiles. Mary Blair won humorous, Zada Ostrander second, Will Allbee third. Pearl Kiddoo led dramatic, Anna Anderson second, Stella Carter third.

The Baptist Sunday school held Ximas exercises at the church with piano solos by Etta Van Kirk and Caisis Plumer. The Methodist Sunday school presented a Xmas cantata at the opera house Saturday night. Silver City girls lost to Malvern 13 to 8. Several residents visit family and travel for Xmas including Miss Van Kirk, Miss Goos, and Miss Flanagan. A horse frightened the train crew near Xmas travel. minor injuries reported. Rev Moser begins special meetings at East Liberty. Others visit Cedar Falls, Oakland, and South Dakota, with local social events and entertainment noted.
