Horse Thief Nabbed After Johnson County Theft
A man who stole a team and outfit from A. R. Jones livery barn at Pacific Junction on Sunday, Nov. 14, has been jailed in Skidmore, Missouri. Sheriff Linville used a postal card description and an arrest at Skidmore led by a cousin’s warning, with Williams denying guilt. The case links to other stolen horses and a railroad pass was found on the suspect. Williams, 26 to 30, faces possible years in prison and extradition to Mills County.

A new 125 yard ditch with 12 feet width and 8 feet depth is under construction. An 80 foot iron bridge is being built across the new channel. An extra yard gang started Friday, and switches are being updated. Passenger coaches on the branch have been overhauled and revarnished. The baggage car now features a Baker hot water heating system. Henry and Douglas Brohard visited with Wilson and Boney families and other relatives. Henry is now in Ames and Doug in Cole.

William A. Bachman died at his Alliance home after a three week typhoid pneumonia illness. Funeral held Monday at his brother Eduard Bachman’s home two miles north of Glenwood. Survived by widow and nine year old son, sisters and brothers including Eduard of Glenwood and several in Omaha Council Bluffs Ravenna and Plainville. He was 40, a Burlington conductor, member of Railway Conductors Union and Woodmen lodge. Thanks offered to friends and pallbearers.

Eight cattle cars shipped to Chicago by Emerson shippers
Eight fat cattle cars were sent to Chicago on Saturday. Henry Douglass led with three cars, Bert Dunn one, Jud Vance one, and James Durbin three. The town also plans a Brotherhood of American Yeomen lodge with about 35 members to be organized Wednesday night. A lecture titled "Hips Off the Old Block" will be given at the opera house by Hon W B Townsend in association with the Modern Woodman lodge, admission free.
