Charley Minner of Glenwood attempted to raise White Leghorn chickens famed for eggs. The birds escaped pens and barns despite many efforts, making them hard to herd and to keep contained. He eventually resorted to hunting quail rather than corral the roving hens.

Power House Progressing In Glenwood Iowa

Two large boilers are in place and walled up while a third foundation is rushed to completion. The immense brick smoke stack base stands 18 feet high with a soot chamber. the stack will reach 138 feet. Foundations are cement. Upon completion Glenwood's power house will be unmatched in southwestern Iowa.
