Balfour Malvern Names Confuse Travel Reader

The Tribune notes a Tabor man returning from Omaha mistook the Burlington No 14 call for Malvern and alighted twelve miles from home in M. A. B. chased down the track by livery team. He later reached Tabor by telephone and a farmer helped him back.

The Creston Advertiser Gazette reports fast mail No. 71 on Thanksgiving day achieved a likely West Division record from Creston to Council Bluffs, recovering 49 minutes of lost time and beating No. 8 by 9 minutes over 84 miles Creston to Pacific Junction. Alonzo Quinby piloted the late start through Villisea and Ned Qak with a work pang halt at Emerson, finishing Pacific Junction in 1 hour 36 minutes and reclaiming 36 minutes. From Pacific Junction to the U P transfer, 13 more minutes were recovered, totaling 11% minutes for the run, a likely enduring mark.

Grandma Record Undergoes Bladder Stone Operation

The chronically ill Grandma Record at Glenwood underwent bladder stone surgery last Saturday. Despite advanced age and frail health, she rallied, rested well, and doctors DeWitt and Cron with Mrs Schier and Benson from the Institution assisted in the procedure, giving improved recovery prospects.

Robert Ness, mayor of Imogene, collapsed and died Friday while unloading a load from a car near aeny. The 65 year old longtime resident and section boss left three sons and one daughter. Mrs Mc Clees acted to smother flames when a celluloid collar caught fire, noting the incident followed by a local death from teart trouble.

Flood Gate Installed at Mills Foremont Ditch

Ron Flood Gate Wm Eyler and Sons have installed the figod gate in the Mills Foremont ditch designed to drain Lake Waubonsie. The eight iron wings are three feet wide and eight feet high, totaling a 24 foot gate width, fastened to the public void bridge northwest of Bartlett near the John Hendrickson farm.

The ministers wives group in Mills County met in Malvern for its regular monthly session. The program was entirely in the hands of the wives and proved far more engaging than any men could have prepared. About 18 attendees reported a fine time.

Mills County Medical Association Meets in Glenwood

The regular semi annual meeting of the Mills County Medical Association will be held in Glenwood next Thursday. Officers are to be chosen and a program is promised. Dr and Mrs DeWitt will entertain visiting physicians at a six o clock dinner in the evening. The wives will accompany their husbands and a social time will be enjoyed.

Second Crop of Apples Exhibition at Tribune Office

A small cluster of second crop apples from near Phelps City Missouri is on display at the Tribune office. Brought by Mrs. We Wright visiting her parents Mr and Mrs Jesse Noah southeast of Glenwood, the tree bloomed a second time in August. Phelps City lies 66 miles south of Glenwood, attributed to Mills County weather.

Endorsement to abolish the circle on the ballot

Snowbound passengers endure three days in blizzard

Mrs Charles Evans and daughter Grace arrived in Glenwood from Bisbee North Dakota after a blizzard stopped their train for three days and two nights. Passengers suffered bitter cold and went without food until a snow plow arrived. Also aboard were Mr and Mrs Wrank Walluave who stopped at St Paul.
