Glenwood winds through Thanksgiving with visits from Malvern and Omaha notables, a barber shop return, farm notes, a new meat wagon, and theater masquerade details. Local families report travel and illness, with deputies and bankers noted amid Harvest season chatter and small-town trades.
Glenwood Methodists purchase two corner lots for 2000 to build a new brick church costing about 12000. The meeting house will move a half block north onto a slope suitable for a basement. Old church site sold for 1500 to J E Scott and son Russell to be converted into a fruit packing and cold storage plant. Possession July 1 1905.
Emerson Chronicle reports Percy Jackson invited a group of young people, chaperoned by Dr and Mrs Tubbs, to hike from the Judge hotel parlor to the woods Monday evening. A roaring fire, coffee, sandwiches, cheese, cheesestraws and olives were served in gypsy style. The crowd then spent time telling stories and jokes before hiking home, voting Mr Jackson a royal entertainer.
Southwest Iowa Horticultural Society stakes a three day meeting in Harlan from December 6 to 8 covering 25 counties. Specialists in fruit, orchards, greenhouse work, and landscape topics join from Agriculture College and state and national associations. Public invited with program lead W M Bomberger and pres C H Dear. Yeast Foam earns first prize at St Louis fair and a booklet offered by Northwestern Yeast Company. Also ads for Durochersey Hogs and Col W H Byers sale services.
