A long list of visitors and residents includes Mrs Florence Gates of Omaha with her father Hi A Tolles, and many others calling on relatives, reporting illnesses, births, and social events. The week features church, school, and business chatter, with occasional remarks on local trades, farming, and a Mills County union address by Hon. Stone.
M. Flammant has been named postmaster of Mineola and will assume duties after bond approval. Roosevelt praised him as a good citizen though a Democrat. J. F. Bichel, retiring Nasby, will relocate around October first to a Glenwood farm on the northeast edge.
The Silver City Times reports Mrs Mary McNay was stung by a swarm of bumble bees while working near her home north of town and was ill until a physician treated her. She is now greatly improved. Also notices seek a good girl for general housework for five dollars a week and auction pricing offered by Fowler and Stroud.
Mrs Bert Cale of Afton visits Mrs G D Kirkendale while Win Anderson's home welcomes a new boy. Walter Groom visits his brother in Council Bluffs. August Anderson visits Chas Broon's home in Stanton. Lonnie Jones ships hogs. Dan Kelley from Creston visits. Threshing totals: CC May 1270, Crestout 970 bushels. A son born to Mrs Wm Engle. her husband Mr Engle died last April. A threshing engine incident near L A Stroud required a house mover Jolson to assist. Clay and Ed Quelashmute return from a week with Jesse on his Burwell, Neb. branch. Junction schools reopen next Monday under principal Vror Wo Gregg and staff.
The funeral for Mrs. G. W. Ames was held at her Glenwood home conducted by Rev. J. O. Stadles. Born Prudie Baxter in Grant N Y July 12 1839 she married G. W. Ames in 1868 and lived in Rome before moving to Glenwood. A devout Baptist, she helped neighbors and mentored “my boys” boarding in her home, fighting rheumatism and cancer with faith and charity.

Claude Kearney of Malvern spoke at the Methodist church Sunday evening for Simpson College.

While in Silver City last week the Tribune visited the new home of Chas S Kruse, a stock buyer, under construction by M Ti Stuffaker. The one stairway design saves space in a 384 by 62 foot two story house with hot water heating and modern lighting. Contractor Huffaker's workmanship earns high praise as the project progresses toward completion.
