Big Time at Macedonia Soldiers Reunion

The Macedonia reunion drew an estimated 7,000 attendees on Thursday. A severe thunderstorm dispersed the crowd, leaving many travelers without shelter while local citizens opened homes to stranded visitors. Fire Hits Merry-Go-Round Amid Sudden Storm

A chaotic scene at a fair saw a merry go round catch fire as a sudden storm tore through the area. Bystanders reported smoke and frightened crowds as emergency crews moved to control the blaze and secure the site. No definitive injuries or cause are confirmed. investigators will review the incident.

Last Friday after 4 oclock a funnel shaped cloud rose and roared while pursuing the branch train south from Henderson. Passengers and engineers feared a derailment as the tornado-like column tracked along the line for about 141 minutes before dissipating.

Rural Carriers Convention Call From Davenport Leader

C. M. Adams of Davenport, president of the Iowa Rural Letter Carriers Association, calls for the fifth annual state convention in Des Moines on August 29 and 30. Iowa has 2104 rural carriers and many delegates will be present. Adams urges all who can attend. Also notes bids for the State Institution at Glenwood and various farm and shop notices including pasture for rent and barber shop location.
