The new building rises visibly as work continues and progress is noted. A farewell picnic at Glenwood Lake honored Martha and Tad Ward Anderson before they move to Council Bluffs. Local clubs hosted fundraisers, and a 14 to 0 loss stunned the home team in a Sunday ball game.

Farm Furrows in a Sultry Harvest Week

The past week brought hot sultry days with little breeze, taxing the air as the sun pressed down. Farmers counted on corn thriving if the heat did not endure, while the neighborhood continued threshing activity throughout the week.

Threshing Season and the Farmer's Wives

The article describes grueling threshing under hot weather, the need to keep machines running, and the value of workers' time. It highlights the role of threshing machines, the cost of repairs, and the preparation by farmer wives who feed hungry crews with meals, ending with praise for hard work and the motto of honest days pay.
