Starbuck Home Burglarized in Glenwood

Starbuck reports his west Glenwood home was broken into Wednesday afternoon between 5 and 7 o clock while the family was away. A rear upstairs window was forced, with the screen torn and a glass pane broken to release the sash catch. The house was ransacked but nothing of value appears missing. Authorities suspect Indian talent and feel they have the guilty party spotted.

Chautauqua Board Announces 1907 Glenwood Meeting

The 1906 Chautauqua board invites all interested in the 1907 Glenwood Chautauqua to meet next Monday evening at City Hall. The year’s success was strong and should grow. Guarantors and ticket takers are urged to attend as the last business of the current Chautauqua will be settled. About $200 is to be turned over to the new board. total receipts exceeded $3000, though bills remain unsettled.

Boy 12 Leaves Home to See World. Found in St. Joseph

Frank Wilson, 12, son of Thomas Wilson of Pacific Junction, ran away last Sunday to see the world. He was not located until Tuesday when found at St. Joe, near a former playmate’s home, amid suspicions about his whereabouts. His father is a blacksmith for Buch Murphy at Glenwood.

Burlington offers cheap round trip railroad fares

The Burlington announces Aug 11 to 13 sale dates for round trip tickets from Mills county to Chicago Milwaukee or Peoria for 38 dollars and to St Louis and back for 14.20 dollars with return allowed until Aug 22. Also Glenwood to St Paul or Minneapolis for 7.30 with return until Aug 1, tied to the G A R reunion.

Glenwood lads draw for Shoshone reservation claims

Eda Walling, the first Glenwood boy notified, drew 168 and must be in Lander Wyoming on August 16 to choose and file his claim. The low number promises a strong claim. William Donelan re gistered as a soldier for him, XI, A. Stillwagon appears in the draw log for Glenwood with number 1430.

Treasurer Carson reports July tax collections lagging by over $2,000 versus the previous year. The figures show $6,081.32 collected in July 1905 and $4,006.11 in July 1905.

Real estate deal in Silver City sees Richard Bada sell 240 acres to Harry Maddocks and D L Markel for 24000 dollars at 100 dollars per acre. Maddocks gains the Tom Cain 160 acres, totaling 280 acres. Markel acquires the east eighty, Henry Cain farm. It marks Bada’s first land sale in Mills county in many years.

Doings of the Death Angel in Emerson Region

Win Wilson, a stock dealer from Emerson, died unexpectedly Sunday morning after bowel trouble. Funeral Tuesday afternoon. He left a wife and one child, resided in Emerson seven to eight years, and partnered with C. J. Maynes. A letter from Mr. and Mrs. John Rist, living in Red Oak, said he was working on a farm near town. The Rists were involved in a recent elopement with Katie Doran of Glenwood. They plan to return to Glenwood in about three weeks.
