Port Elliott Election Case and Local Government Meeting Notes
Mr C Tucker M P and his sister Mrs Brown were charged at Port Elliott on September 18 for unlawful voting at Karounter Bay on April 29. Mr Brown pleaded guilty with no penalty. Tucker was fined £1 without costs. At Adelaide, Hammond District Council backed a motion asking the Government to allow free carriage of letters and documents viewed by local bodies. The association fumbled through the tieere of the matter, with debate described as farcical and the notion of local government bodies as absurd as Hamilton Council.
