Big Democratic Mass Meeting Ends With Fishing
Jos K Moyer of Centre Mills hosted a large Democratic gathering last Friday but speakers ran late. The crowd diverted to the mill dam, catching about fifteen bushels of fish, many nineteen inches long, dividing them into forty five shares to feed numerous families. An Evangelical church in the Mountains has been repaired and will reopen for services on Sunday the sixteenth in both German and English with picnic style dinner. A Bellefonte population surge to 40000 is predicted in five years, aided by mining wealth, location, a new furnace on the fair ground, and upcoming railroads.
