Forest fires destroy mills and lumber in Eperion area
A dry wind drove wildfires through Eperion and nearby Sterling Run and Swissment. At Sterling Run the tannery company buildings and a large mill burned, with two families reported missing and feared to be dead. Swissment saw two mills and extensive lumber lost as fires raged. Renova aided the village to avert disaster.

Fire devastates Williamsport saw mill and surrounding homes
A South Williamsport blaze destroyed Val entine Sappers saw mill and five dwellings along Louisa and Elmira streets, with losses exceeding 28,000 plus 9,000 insured. Samuel Hedricks, found inside intoxicated, was seriously burned as the shop burned and cash and clothing were lost. The mill and lumber were destroyed but the rolling mill survived.
Orphans Court Sale of Zeigler Real Estate at Rebersburg
By order of the Centre County Orphans Court the estate of Isaac Zeigler deceased will be sold at public sale at Rebersburg Hotel on Saturday April 12 1884 at 1 PM. Three tracts in Miles Township include two ground lots three and one half acres and two wood land tracts of fifteen and five acres. Terms: one third cash on confirmation, ten percent day of sale, and the balance in two equal annual payments with interest secured by bond and mortgage. Administrator of Isaac Zeigler dee’d.
