Emiporia to Miamisburg Tour Through Kansas Rural Life
In a letter from Emporia Kansas dated January 3 1882 Ephor writes of attending the Ohio Synod meeting in Miamisburg and touring Jackson and Jefferson Counties. He notes Pennsylvania settlers in Holden and Valley Falls adapting to Kansas life and recalls Yoney Kreamer as a Kansan elder. He extols Kansas scenery prairie flowers and distant mountains and contrasts harvests with Pennsylvanian farming. He cites Ontario liquor consumption and a county commissioners meeting establishing rules for the Belleville office.
