Pittsnine August 4. Demand for freight cars has surged, straining railroads centered in the city. A severe wreck on the Pittsburg division near Walls Station followed a coke train axle failure in Carpenter's tunnel, piling engine and cars. The engineer and fireman escaped miraculously, and relief crews cleared the obstruction by late morning, forcing through trains to reroute at Blair intersection.
