Canadian Court of Foresters at Toronto Exhibition

Brave Act Rescues Girl From 30 Foot Well

Mrs. Gurkey of Campbellford descended into a 30 foot well to save her granddaughter Mabel 10 after a loose board broke and toppled her into the shaft. She held the girl on a submerged board until rescue by passerby Mr. Fred Peake, despite bruises from the fall. The brave deed highlights quick thinking and courage in danger.

By law adjustment set for Manvers school funds

The Manvers council met on Saturday September 23 with Barnicutt Porter Preston Evans in attendance. It was moved that Deputy Reeve Barnicutt chair. Trustees of school section No 9 asked to change the raised amount to 400 dollars from 479. The by law No 552 figures 479 were erased and 400 inserted. corporate seal affixed.
