South Monaghan Township Passes School By-Law

The May 5 1958 meeting of the Municipality of South Monaghan with Reeve Ray Bothwell presiding approved by-law 638 for debentures of 39740 to fund a Bailieboro Public School addition. Debenture by-laws 639 and 640 received readings and set plans to seek Ontario Municipal Board approval and modernize building regulations. Council adjourned to May 6 with warrants and staff notes discussed including warble fly spraying and fire protection.

Special Meeting Tackles Volunteer Fire Fighting Equipment

Ree Bothwell calls special meeting of OO South Monaghan Township Council at the Township Hall at 8 30 p m. The Fire Ma staff member Mr Lowe outlines procedures for setting up volunteer fire fighting department and discusses equipment types and sizes. He notes potential testing by the Fire Marshall and possible sale of services to adjacent areas or property owners. Meeting adjourns after further discussion and a motion.

Weather Sunday brings first storm of season at Ida Peterborough damage

The Sunday afternoon storm brought the first thunderstorm of the season. Ida saw heavy downpour, culvert flooding, and lingering flood effects. Peterborough reported considerable wind damage with toppled trees and wrecked hay. Millbrook experienced little rain wind or lightning.
