Young Couple Honoured by Friends at Local Events

On Feb 23 Fallis Line Fife and Drum Band members gathered at Cliff Fallis and wife home to honour newlyweds Herbret Fallis and his wife. Natalie Belch gave the address while Ruth Fallis and Bonna Todd presented an electric kettle and wax flowers. On Mar 1 Trinity Church Marsh group hosted a miscellaneous shower in Parsh Hall.

Brownies Hold February Meeting With 21 Present

Brownies met on Wednesday February 27 with 21 members present. Brown Owl conducted a review, Tweenies learned to fold a brownie tie, and those on the Golden Bar completed their second lesson. Most learners in sema phore reached the alphabet. Rev H C Quinn visited and spoke briefly. The meeting ended with taps.

Open House At Public School Opens Monday Evening

The Public School hosts an open house from 8 to 9 p.m. Monday March 11 before the Home and School Association monthly meeting. Mrs Ouellette’s room will be visited first at the Legion Hall, then school displays. Stuart Ryan Q.C. will speak on Guidance. Musical numbers and refreshments follow. Everyone welcome. Church Service March 10 at St Thomas Anglican Church at 7 p.m. marks Education Week closure with reserved seats for members.

Local Shorthorn breeders prominent at bull sale

The Ontario Bull Sale reported top prices with Sandoon Keynote bought by John Howden for $630.00 and Polled son of Birmingham Dauntless sold for $600.00 to J. Douglas Clarke. Champion Scotsdale Keepsake sold for $810.00 and reserve Ben Nevis White Emblem for $1010.00, both purchased by Central Ontario Cattle Breeders Association. Overall average across 72 bulls was $412.84, with buyers from Algoma to Mexico.

Helen Ingham, daughter of Mrs B E Ingham of Street, placed first among nine in the Ian Drama for girls and under at Peterborough music festival. Esme Crampton showed promise at Stratford festival with composed stage presence though the Lady Macbeth performance needed more force.
