Sneak Thieves Target Millbrook Garage

Thieves entered the garage at King and Tupper streets formerly Bev Reid now Ted Scott and stole oil over the weekend. A week earlier the Reid/Tupper Street lock was tampered with, indicating an attempted entry to the new premises.

Former Millbrook Boy Dies in Kelowna B C

Wood death reported in Kelowna B C notes Dr Horace Wood formerly of Millbrook attended local high school then dental college, moved to Vancouver practiced there, retired five years ago to Kelowna. He was brother to the late Arthur Wood former Reeve of Cavan Township and uncle of Mrs Homer Ouellette Millbrook and Mrs Keith Larmer Fraserville.

Mr and Mrs Lav M Fallis and their son and daughter in law visited Whitby over the weekend. Reeve Geo F Harrington and Mrs Harrington attended the Hydro Area Managers Conference at the Frecanton Hotel Niagara Falls on February 25 26 and 27. Mr and Mrs Oliver Hodges of Winona Ontario were recent guests with Mrs G Howson and also Miss Eva Howson Downsview Rehabilitation Hospital and Mr Gilbert Howson of Peterborough. Miss Etta Campbell and Mrs Trene McKinnon of Toronto spent the weekend with Miss May Needham and visited Civic Hospital Peterborough where Edith Shepperd, patient for nearly six months, died Monday March 2. Mr and Mrs Alan Jowitt of Pickering with their son George Miss Nancy Wood of Kingston and Mr Bryar Foster of Peterborough were weekend guests at Herbert Patton’s home. Mr and Mrs Clifford Hanson of Toronto called to visit Mrs Dave Patton on Sunday.

Service of dedication in Christ Church Bailieboro

In Christ Church Bailieboro Parish of Cavan a March 1 service included Holy Communion and the dedication of two flags the Union Jack and the Anglican Church flag gifts to the church by Miss Frances Hall Bailieboro. Miss Hall presented flags to Wardens Lloyd Jackson and Robert Hazelden who bore them to the Altar rail for dedication by Rev Edgar Palfrey. The flags will be mounted by the Chancel later as visitors attended.

Monstrosity Suffers Severe Roof Collapse at Corner

A building at King and Union Streets opposite Bown Hall collapsed Tuesday afternoon at 3 30. A large portion of the roof caved in. The aging structure, nicknamed Monstrosity, was deemed dangerous and the corner blocked off with a slow fence.

Millbrook Up-To-Date on Snow Caved Roof Repair

Snow and ice weight caused roof damage in Ontario towns including Millbrook and Peterborough. Millbrook’s bowling alley roof over the pins collapsed recently but was repaired quickly and the lanes were restored to service.
