Donald McKnight son of Mr and Mrs J H McKnight Fallis line was named principal of King Edward School Peterborough by the Board of Education to take effect September 1 1959. He previously served as vice principal of Prince of Wales School and now receives a notable promotion. The McKnight family resides at 565 Steel Ave Peterborough.

About 40 friends and school mates held a surprise farewell party for Gail Lawson on Friday June 12 1959 at the Armouries. The hall featured pink and blue decor and guests enjoyed dancing and a lunch before Gail moves with her family to Whitby.

Millbrook Fair Opens With 110th Livestock Show

The 110th Annual Livestock Show of the Millbrook Agricultural Society opened with a noon parade led by the Millbrook Bugle Band and Bethany Community Band. Attendance was satisfactory despite heat and the missing merry-go-round and Ferris Wheel. School exhibits impressed and the livestock show ranked above average, with a strong display of farm implements and wares. The Ladies Aid of Grace Presbyterian Church provided a well-run supper.

Local service groups loan equipment to needy patients

The Good Samaritan 1-Odd Fellows and Rebekahs in Ontario operate more than seven hundred hospital beds and over eight hundred wheelchairs along with bed tables crutches and other sick room items. Items are loaned free of charge to needy cases through Cancer Pelio and Tuberculosis committees, with waiting lists in most towns.

Prominent Citizen Herbert A Kerr Dies Suddenl

Millbrook mourns the death of Herbert A Kerr at his home from a heart attack. A longtime bank executive and community leader, he served in Freemasonry, Lions Club, Red Cross and Grace Presbyterian Church, with a funeral in Grace Church and burial in Elmvale. He is survived by wife Kathryn Patterson and son Donald H Kerr, with another son William lost in World War II.

Mr Frank McIndoo of Bowmanville visited the village on Tuesday. Mr and Mrs Jack Blakely and Mrs Allan Gill visited Mrs R H Blakely and attended the Millbrook fair last week. Mrs W Gray of Toronto with Mrs E Handle and her son in law Mr Harold Sider and children of Fenelon Falls visited Mr and Mrs J H Barringer Sunday afternoon. Mrs J H McKnight returned home from hospital Monday after her recent operation.

Two Large Eggs Make Satisfying Meal

Mrs. Walter Widdis sent her husband to The Reporter with two extra large eggs laid by their hens. Measurements show one egg at TY inches by 9 inches and the other at 614 inches by 7% inches, with a double yolk and a single yolk egg. After refrigeration, the eggs were cooked and shared as a meal for friends.

Water pipes laid in hurry on King Street
