Mill Brook Red Cross tohold annual meeting Friday

The Mill Brook Branch of the Canadian Red Cross Society will meet Friday January 30 at 2 p.m. in the Township of Cavan Clerk's Office Town Hall Mill Brook. Full attendance requested. The Toronto Coliseum hosts the Royal Winter Fair covering 26 acres.

Mr and Mrs Merv Trick of Toronto visited with Mr and Mrs Herbert Trick over the weekend. Mr and Mrs Anneth Foot tit and Miss Alice Hawkins motored to Elliott Lake. While there Mr Poottit visited the mines, which proved very interesting.

Car wreck at Tupper Street crossing injures teen

A 1953 motor car from Millbrook driven by C Donkers with his 17 year old brother-in-law A Brockstra slid on a wet road and struck a freight train near Tupper Street. Brockstra received a minor head wound treated by Dr Hobbs. car is badly smashed. The pair were returning from Peterborough when the crash occurred as trains rarely pass the crossing.

Local Association Meets in Millbrook Home

The Local Association for Millbrook met at Mrs. Kenneth Foottit's home on January 20 with Mrs. Neave presiding. A bake sale report pleased the group and a Tea and Bake Sale committee was formed for March 21. Treasurer Florence White reported finances. A Port Hope camping commissioners meeting is set for February 33, and the next meeting will be at Mrs. Neave's February 19. Lunch was served at adjournment.
