Millbrook Market Opens With Winter Hours for Farmers

Millbrook Market announces a winter operation in the village offering top cash prices for produce and farm goods. Producers can sell fowl buckwheat oats butter tallow lard hides sheep skins wool iron and scrap, or exchange for dry goods groceries tinware coal oil flour and meal. Farmers urged to call and bring offerings to secure best prices.

County council winners listed by township and acclamation

The Counties council will seat new members including Reeve Thackeray of Alnwick and Reeve Wilson of Manvers with several deputy Reeves. Many races were won by acclamation while others had defeats, expanding the council to forty six with Murray adding a second deputy reeve.

Mr Jas Corbitt of Millbrook has moved to Port Perry with his family and now occupies a Queen Street brick house owned by Mr William Bateman. He has accepted a position in Mr A W Allin's carriage works. The paper extends a welcome in the name of Port Perry citizens to Mr and Mrs Corbitt.

CAVAN Council Approves Bush Clearing and Relief Grants

The Cavan council notes present. Councillor Coe reports awarding a brush-cutting job on the 13th concession road to William Stuart for 9 dollars, with payment recommended. Thexton test-brushed swamp road. estimates 24.50 dollars for work and proposes 300 dollars to complete brushing and culvert installation by April 1, 1894. Richard McBrian relief grant of 24 dollars approved. Arrears of statute labor rebates for Morton, Dunlop, and Newman approved. 35 dollars granted for James Handley hall upkeep. Council enters contract with Thexton for extended brushing at 300 dollars total, to be completed by April 1, 1894. Several treasurer orders issued. Tuesday night noted as the coldest of the winter with a record 30 degrees below zero.

Methodist tea and concert in Mount Pleasant

Mount Pleasant reports a January 2 tea and concert by the Methodist Sunday school in Good Templar's hall and church.
