At Fairview school a rural meeting opened a poll to decide the retiring trustee contest between W H Armstrong and new candidate John Tait. The vote favored Tait by five after two friends of Armstrong demanded a poll. An hour passed with no vote and the poll closed. extending to four would have doubled the majority.

Old Pioneer Robert Webster of Oakwood dies at 82
Robert Webster of Oakwood Ont. died Sunday evening Dec 10 in his eighty third year. He arrived in Cavan in 1823 with his family, helped clear three farms at Mount Pleasant, later moved to Emily and Mariposa townships. Survived by wife Margret Henderson and twelve children. A Methodist for over sixty years. An obituary note plus an unrelated Perry Davis Bandaid advertisement follows.

Marriage at Kinyon Residence in Cavan
A wedding took place on Wednesday December 20 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. Kinyon, with their daughter Caroline marrying Mr. Thomas Harkness of Cavan. The service was by Ven Archdeacon Allen, followed by supper, dancing and games. The couple departed next day by 4:40 train to Peterboro. Gifts include oil paintings, china, silver, lamps, and more from relatives and friends across Bailieboro, Manvers, Garden Hill, and Cavan.
