The Millbrook market announces its opening for local farmers in the village, with a schedule to be held every week. The notice invites growers to participate and sell their produce at the new market.

A fire at the Port Hope town hall began near John Elliott's butcher shop and spread to the clock tower and belfry. Firefighters saved mayoral records and the safe contents, while the town clock and bell were lost. Elliott and Gamble suffered losses with no insurance. the hall cost about $20,000 to build and had $9,000 insured.

Mariners township council met in Bethany yesterday and accepted Mr. Wilson’s resignation as reeve. A by law was passed to receive nominations for the office at Bethany next Friday. If a poll is demanded the election will be held the Friday after. Polling places and deputy officers remain as at the January vote. The contest is expected to be between Wilson and Kennedy, promising a hot race.
Thomas Sexsmith Jr., fourteen, son of Mr. Thos Sexsmith of Hope district, was kicked in the forehead by a colt while being put in the stable on Saturday the 28th. Found ten minutes later by his father he could not explain the incident. Dr. Aldrich of Newtonville attends. the patient is progressing favourably.
Mr J Burn accelerates preparations at his sawmill hoping for heavy summer work as many logs arrive. He plans adding two chopping stones to meet local demand since the nearby mill has ceased operations. The village reports several illnesses amid a busy local scene with family visits noted. While driving past Walker's school house near Lindsay last Thursday afternoon a hungry wild cat leaped onto a dog riding with a man. The man jumped from the cutter and struck the animal with the whip butt, killing the wild cat and saving the dog from predation.
