The Late Samuel McCormick Lays In Mt Pleas ant Burial Ground
The late Samuel McCormick formerly of the north of Cavan was laid to rest at Mt Pleasant Presbyterian burying ground on Monday the 16th inst. Born in Diverna Armagh Ireland he came to Canada young. He married Margaret Finley and lived on a farm until blindness ended his work. After his wife’s death he remained in Mt Pleasant until his nephew Samuel McCormick and wife moved to Toronto, where he joined them until his death on the 16th inst. A paralytic stroke nine months ago left him bedbound. He bore his afflictions with Christian fortitude and often waited for the Master to restore his sight. A Presbyterian and Conservative, he belonged to the Orange Order and served as Reeve of LO.L No 41 Emily for years, living by the motto My God My Country and My King.
