On October 14, 1911. BIo»s was assigned to the Sixth field artillery, at Fort Riley, Kans., with a commissionas a second lieutenant.During the controversy It developed that in the spring of 1908 Bloom had desired to enter West Point, and that Simon Wolf had visited President Roosevelt in his behalf- President Roosevelt declinedto give the order, and advised thb.t the young roan enlist in the army as a private. This he did early In 1909, and was attached to Battery «C, Third field artillery. at Fort Myer, where he remained until transferred to Fort Riley, Kans.Lieut. Bloom, Fourth ' field artillery, until recently on duty at FOrt D. A. Russell, Wyo . and now with his regiment In Texas, Is under arrest, awaiting trial by court-martial, according to reports that have reached the War Department.
