Dc Haven, second destroyer bearing that name to be built at the Bath Iron Works during the present war will bo launched Sunday the First Naval District announced Tuesday.The vessel, first to be launched at this yard in 1944. will perpetuate the name of the destroyer sunk south of Savo island by Japanese air attack on Feb. 1. 1943.Like her predecessor, she will to honor the late Lt. Edwin Jesse De Haven, USN, who was born in Pennsylvania in 1816. served with the Navy from 1829 to 1857, and died at Philadelphia in 1865.Sponsor of the new vessel will be Lt. De Haven s granddaugh- I ^ ter, Miss Helen N. De Haven ol ^, Ardmore, Pa. jKCmdr. Charles E. Tolman. U. j p S. N., of Concord, Mass., in command of the preceding Do Haven was awarded the Navy Cross for his extraordinary heroism in battle.
