The Union Pacific Old Timers excursion to Boulder Dam drew about a thousand participants, one of the largest gatherings in the group’s history. The Forest Service proposes a five year program in Region Four covering Utah south Idaho Nevada and western Wyoming with an annual budget of about 3 651 000 providing work for over 12 263 men The plan includes large scale recreation upgrades such as building more than 1000 camp grounds with utilities and community facilities plus bath houses and swimming pools A Monte Cristo example shows an amphitheater and tables stoves plus forthcoming running water for campers.

Mrs Abe Murdock wife of Congressman Abe Murdock of Beaver underwent a major operation at Milford hospital Saturday and is reported netting along nicely. Mrs Albrecht of Minersville is improving after a serious operation performed Saturday. Mrs Lavar Voorhees submitted to a thyroid operation Monday and is doing well. Mrs Daisy Gillins is a patient at the hospital and getting along nicely. A fine baby boy was born Tuesday morning to Mrs Glen Barnes. the baby and mother are doing well, their eighth child.

South Milford reports Mitchell Fisher left last weekend for Logan to resume studies at the U S A C. An electric light pole blew down onto the W W Cook farm house during a heavy wind Saturday, causing a scare but no other damage.

A vehicle driven by Vern Applegate 22 struck pedestrians on Main Street Parowan at 240 am Sunday killing Thomas Lambert 37 Panuitch and injuring Karl Tebbs 37 Panguitch who was rushed to Iron County hospital with severe injuries. An inquest found unlawful speed. Applegate jailed awaiting county attorney action.

A strong Milford wind fueled two fire alarms near the high school and in the southwest town area last Saturday. Firemen from Klage stations arrived quickly, working the blazes at Sam Hickman's woodpile and Jim Thompson's corral with commendable practice.

Civic Clubs Hold Successful Meeting in Blanding Utah
Delegates from southern Utah gathered in Blanding for the monthly Associated Civic Clubs convention hosted by the Blanding chamber and Blue Mountain Civic Club.
