Autumn wedding in Minersville marks Banks Craw rites

The wedding of Mie Alia Banks daughter of Mr and Mrs Randall Banks took place Sept 6 at the brides parents home with Clyde Williams officiating. Attendants included maid of honor Shannon Banks. reception followed at the Minersville school. program featured dances, solos, and readings. A recent visit by Donna Boyter and family and a Minersville school fair highlighted community events.

John S Killam Dies in California After Long Rail Career

John S Killam a Milford resident for many years died Friday September 17 in a Los Angeles hospital after a major operation. Born November 22 1877 in Prophetstown he began railroading in 1903 for the Great Northern. He married Etyel Beard in 1904 and served with SPLA and later Union Pacific. He retired November 22 1947 after 43 years. Survived by five children Cecil Robert T Killam Mildred Hamilton Bessie Hancock Virgin Romick. Funeral services were held in Cedar City with interment in Milford Thursday afternoon.

Mary Hardy dies at 91 in Los Angeles Milford native

Mary Orwin Hardy 91 of Milford died last Saturday at her daughter Hortense Rice’s home in Los Angeles after a stroke in February. Born June 30 1857 in Chesterfield England she moved to Utah in 1882 and married George Hardy in Milford in 1884. She operated a rooming house then a millinery and nation store from 1884 to 1907 and is survived by four children seventeen grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren plus three sisters.

Mulford City Council tackles hangar, recreation and safety needs

Mulford City Council members Ben Hillman Billy DeWolfe and George Jefferson discussed building an extra airport hangar to house transient planes and eyed a recreation program for youths by relocating the Old Library to the Catholic Church lot. They also backed a Lions Club supervised effort, authorized a supplementary firemen insurance policy, and considered removing Union Pacific Lake as a drainage and nuisance issue. Additional items covered included free waste services for city employees horse stabling complaints health investigation of a brush fire truck purchase and BB gun restrictions within city limits.

Milford Ward LDS Events Entrench September Activities

Milford Ward announces a St Georg Temple excursion for the high priests on Saturday September 25 contact Bishop Goodwin for attendance. The Relief Society opens with a social Tuesday September 28 at 2 pm in the Ward Chapel. A fashion show featuring Hollywood styles is set for Tuesday at 7 30 pm. Beaver Stake Sunday School Board invites all Milford Ward officers and teachers to a Union meeting Sunday September 26 at 2 pm in the Five Third Ward chapel. Mutual officers attended the Cedar City convention.

The Milford Ward Genealogical Society met Thursday evening September 1 at the home of Mr and Mrs Frank Osborn with President Lew Stewart presiding. Lorin Osborn of Salt Lake noted for his Eureka leadership shared insights benefiting members and the session proved profitable. The group will meet again at Mrs Roma Carlton's home on September 23.

Beaver County 4H girls shine at State Fair and dairy notes

Five Beaver County 4H club girls attended the State Fair in Salt Lake City and earned top placements in the county exhibit day.
