Legion Slates Party For Vets In Milford

Milford Post No 16 of the American Legion announces its annual fall picnic for World War I and II veterans. The event is planned for Wednesday September 22 at the cedars east of Milford with a gathering at Union Park at 7 p.m. Transportation aid is offered for veterans without cars and a $1 per couple assessment covers beer soft drinks and plenty of eats.

Greenville Social Notes Describe Provo Visitors and Local Events

Mr and Mrs Van Beeson of Provo returned home after a ten day Greenville Beaver visit. Vernon and Emma Davis, Warren Shipp, and other Provo residents spent weekend with Mrs Emma Williams and Mrs Alice Heslington. Ira Yardley and Carlyle Gronning from the stake high council attended Sunday School and Sacrament meeting with Vernon Davis and Orville Harris as speakers. Gronning sang a vocal solo and the program was well received.

Army Transport Makes Emergency Landing At Milford Airport

Eight U S Army fliers on a DC 4 had only ten gallons of fuel when they diverted to Milford Airport. Capt Gerald Duncan and 1st Lt Wayne Wright chose Milford for a safe landing and refueling. The crew and eight soldiers praised the smooth oiled runway before continuing to Hill Field after a 200 gallon refuel.

ORE TRUCK BURNS IN WRECK NEAR 21 Coleman

A truck lost its air brakes and crashed on a high bank. The driver Coleman jumped clear as the vehicle burned, igniting spilled gasoline. Cliff James and Ross Cottrell aided him until Milford emergency crews doused the flames. Coleman survived with shock after X rays showed no broken bones.

First Social of Fall by M1A Opens Season

The M1A held its opening social on Tuesday September 14 in the 1.5 Recreation Hall with dancing and refreshments. Bee Hive and Honor B awards were presented and diplomas given to Alma Sly and 10 others. Milford Tigers face Cedar City in Friday football clash

Milford High Tigers meet Cedar City tomorrow on the Milford field at 2 30 pm. After a preseason loss to Kanab the Tigers show solid play and grit. Admission is 50 cents for adults and 25 cents for school children.

The Tigers host games against Kanab Cedar City Beaver Parowan and Milford travels to Parowan Cedar City and Beaver with date line matchups listed for September October. Milford plays at home September 10 and October 22 and away on other dates.

Beaver County 4H Group Exhibits At Southern Utah Livestock Show

Beaver County 4 H Club members displayed 10 fat steers 4 fat lambs and 4 purebred Herefords at the Southern Utah Livestock Show in Cedar City last week. Wayne Gillins Minersville led with a High Choice steer selling at 41 cents a pound. Vern Wand Gilbert Yardley Gordon Eyre Dale Eyre Dale Myers Noel Wood from Minersville and others earned Good to Commercial ratings in fat lamb and Hereford divisions. Vern and Noel Wood highlighted 4 H entries with blue or red ribbons, and the Minersville livestock judging team tied for second in the 4 H contest as Allen Fordham placed well in individual judging.
