Banks to close Saturdays in summer months plan
The Southern Tah Bankers Association approved a resolution to close banks on Saturdays during June July August and September except on Saturday September 1st. State laws in many states permit summer Saturday closings and Milford State Bank will join the practice. Local businesses and readers are urged to cooperate as the Milford News notes it is not a financial institution but plans to follow the trend.

Jay Gould, Union Pacific engineer with a 49 year rail career, retires May 21 after piloting train No. 10 from Milford to Las Vegas. Born in Minnesota near the North Dakota line, he began with the Soo Line in 1902, worked for several railroads, and joined Union Pacific in 1914. He will reside in Salt Lake City with wife Madalane Spandrie. no children.

Mrs Ireta Bishop Dies in Milford Hospital
Mrs Ireta Walker Bishop 38 died Monday afternoon in Milford Hospital after a lingering illness. Funeral services at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Milford LDS Chapel with George Co Goodwin directing. Born January 8, 1913 in Minersville, she lived much of her life in Milford and was active in the LDS Church. Survived by husband Lawrence Bishop of Provo, a son Joann and daughter Robert, mother Emma Walker, brothers Theman Milford DeLloyde Walker and Lewis Walker, and sister Hilda Nolan. Burial in Milford Cemetery under Southern Utah Mortuary.

DDT dust or spray controls leaf hoppers mites and millipedes. metaldehyde bait or DDT dust combats saw bugs slugs. flea beetles on radishes turnips beets and other crops are reduced by DDT unless on tomato and squash where rotenone is preferred.
