Milford Rail Shipments Hit Twenty One Cars Since May Fifteenth

Milford has shipped 21 cars since May 15 as a measure of its role as a shipping hub. Farmers and stockmen moved wool from Milford Beaver Valleys to rail sites, with ten carloads of wool alone, six west and four to eastern markets. Ore cargoes added eleven cars in the period.

Milford grows with new shops and civic plans

Local readers note a rash of new businesses in Milford including a Flower shop, a wallpaper and painting store, and a Murdock feed and implement outlet with another expected by June 1. Officials report the government will build a railroad from Las Vegas to the Boulder dam site, altering transport routes for eight to ten years, while debates over regional road projects continue in Beaver and Iron counties with several community clubs hosting meetings and social events through May.

Society Notes From An Early Bridge Weekend

Mrs Rue Neilson hosted a Saturday bridge with Mra C B Moore Mrs Copeland Mrs Mor ley Mrs Cates Mrs Sloan Mrs Churchill Mrs Cochrane and Mrs J M Williams. Prizes went to Mrs Moore Honors to Mrs Cochrane Consolation to Mrs Churchill. A luncheon followed. Friday evening Erma Gillies entertained with guests including Miss Gee from Tooele Utah. Social Hour Club convened at the club house with Mrs W W Cook and Mrs James Rollins. luncheon at one long table with purple trim. guests included Mrs Bowman Beaver and Mrs Meldrum.

Fatal Accident South of Beaver Claims Richfield Man

Thoms Stanliff of Richfield was fatally struck on Buckhorn flats south of Beaver by a car driven by A. T. Farrell, Continental Oil rep, with Henry Bowman present. Stanliff had stopped to help a stalled vehicle and was between cars when Farrell’s lights blinded him. He died en route to Parowan. no charges will be filed against Farrell.

Clinic at Beaver High School for undernourished children

The State Chest Clinic with Dr Critchlow will hold a health clinic at Beaver High School on Saturday afternoon May 24 at 2 oclock to advise parents on building up children reported undernourished by the school nurse and to promote tuberculosis prevention.

Fashion Show Programme Lights Up Milford Gala Night

Vaudeville district fans will enjoy acts led by Prof Hughes and other talents at the fashion show on May 28 and 29. Buckskin Road Work Finished By Lions Clubs

The Lions clubs of Beaver Milford and Panguitch completed road work yesterday with volunteer labor and donations. The cut off from the Arrow head highway now serves over a dozen daily cars and is an improving unimproved highway. Dugway built and grades reduced, the route offers convenient access for Bryce Canyon visitors and connects Garfield county to Milford railroad, though not on a state highway.

Barber Amiel Kelson freed on $1100 bond after pool hall break-in

Amiel Kelson, held in the local jail for a week, was released Monday on a $1100 bond posted by his brothers Alma and Henry Kelson of Ephraim. The barber admitted overindulgence and broke into a pool hall. liquor was found during a search of his business. A preliminary hearing is set for next Monday.
