Milford American Legion staged the Days of ’39 celebration with a parade organized by high school students and a cafe El Toro cabaret and floor show. The day drew town residents, limited advertising, and a midnight show with about thirty reserved tables and a lively dance and music segment.
Adele Kinney formerly of Milford married Harry C Russey in Las Vegas in a ceremony that drew Milford interest. The bride is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Joe Kinney and a Milford High School graduate. the groom is the son of Mr and Mrs S O Russey, also of Milford. The wedding linked Milford to Wheaton Springs California where Russey works.
The Beaver County Board of Commissioners will meet as a Board of Equalization on Monday June 1, Wednesday June 10, and Saturday June 20. A Miller clerk.
Nominations for Milford Lions Club officers for 1936 37 were announced after the May 13 meeting. J Cass Rom seeks the presidency to succeed LaMar Outzen while other officers include Dr R I Shannon, J M Hughes, J C Smith, David Williams, L A Wynaught, and O L Finnage. Director candidates are Harold Cline George Totforton Tai Mar Outen and F R Moody with two to be chosen at the formal election. The incoming officers will assume duties July 1. The district convention will be held in Logan June 12 and 13.
Funeral services for George Withar Tobinset Robinson were held Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock in Sacred Heart Church. Interment followed at Ventt Root Cemetery with burial in the family plot. Many relatives and friends attended the service and offered prayers for the departed.
Beaver River water commissioner H. K. Boyter said snow in the Beaver Mountains remains solid ice and melts slowly with cooler weather, reducing spring flood risk but lowering Minersville reservoir inflow. May 19 river flow averaged 260 second-feet, with 64 into the reservoir. North Creek 76, Indian Creek 18, South Creek zero. A major snow slide in Smith Fork of North Creek created a two mile debris blockage, one of the largest in history for the area above the south fork.

Graveside services were held at Mountain View cemetery in Beaver for DeVere Wright 26 a former Frisco and Beaver resident found dead two miles from Paine Nevada Friday night. Wright reportedly died from a neck wound self inflicted after disappearing Friday with blood trail along the highway. Born February 9 1911 in Malad Idaho he was the son of Peter and Hulda Wright and survived by three brothers Floyd in Pioce Nevada Royal in Paine Nevada and Ceeil in Beaver.
Florence Louise Bursey is welcomed as the first child of Mr and Mrs Ralph Bursey born Tuesday night at Mitford Hospital weighing about 60 pounds. Mother and baby are doing well. Ralph Bursey celebrated with cigars at Ye Olde Towne Tavern where he is involved with Pratt Root. This is the couple’s first daughter and they are reportedly thrilled.
California faces rising meat demand as population grows and western stock moves westward. Arizona New Mexico Oregon Nevada Idaho Colorado Utah ship cattle to California with nearly a million cattle arriving in 1985 valued around 80 dollars per head. California purchases about 50 million dollars in cattle from neighbors and meets demand with both local production and imports. The trend favors improved breeding and market-ready cattle as California becomes a dry lot finishing area.
