Twenty-Six Are In Graduating Class

Milford high school will confer twenty six diplomas Friday evening signaling the close of a successful year. The weeklong commencement began with baccalaureate services led by Sidney B Sperry of Brigham Young University. Pioneer Woman Margaret Hickman Remembered in Milford Service

Tributes paid to Margaret Kirk Hickman, longtime Milford resident and pioneer, who died May 4. Funeral held Friday at Milford L D S chapel with local and visiting mourners. Speakers Rudolph Nielsen and Carlyle Gronning paid warm tributes. interment in Milford cemetery. Born 1863 in Lancashire, she traveled with family to Utah as a child, married Joseph S. Hickman in 1881, and lived in Milford since 1885. Survived by six of eleven children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. many relatives attended despite one absence due to work.

Candidates For Office Must File By May 31

Would-be candidates for July 11 primaries must file by May 31 with the proper filing officers. Congressional and state posts go to the secretary of state, county offices to the county clerk. Beaver County has three offices: two commissioners and county attorney. The four-year commissioner likely from Milford, Iv an McKnight, Republican, currently serving a two-year term.

Legion Auxiliary Meeting Helps At Cross Sewing Night

The Milford American Legion Auxiliary met at the library on Monday May 15 after a brief business session. Members shared a Cross sewing activity and enjoyed a lunch prepared by Mrs. Mostrie, Mary Reed, and Lottie Murdsles. Poppy poster contest winners were announced: senior first prize to Kav Bunil, junior high first prize to Ward Luesl, and second prize to ? (teacher Mrs. Pauly).
