Thirty nine students from Beaver county high schools received diplomas after completing graduation courses. Ceremonies took place in Minersville Milford and Beaver with Dr R G Porter delivering the commencement address.
Milford resumes kindergarten at the district school with Louise L. Campbell leading a four week term starting Monday May ?, for children ages 4 and up. The full session costs four dollars.
Milford business and professional men will present a Lions Follies at the High School auditorium on Thursday and Friday evenings. About fifty men will perform in the show with chorus girls and various acts, directed by Myrtle M. Colan. All seats are reserved, and the production has toured statewide.
The Twelfth Annual Convention of the Utah Wyoming division of the Service Star Legion gathers Friday and Saturday at Memorial House City Park Canyon Salt Lake City. Milford is honored as State President nominee Annie J Atkins declined due to business reasons while Milford will send four delegates Mrs L Ford Susie Smith John Killam and Dorothy Miller
Milford Lions club hosted a Ladies Night with a banquet at the Union Pacific dining room at eight. The Milford Orchestra led by Dan Ferguson provided music, carnival hats added cheer, followed by an informal song fest. Couples then moved to the Odd Fellows Hall for late dancing.
The Perian Club met Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Bruce L. Allen. Mrs. Walter Weber led the English lesson. Mrs. L. G. Clay presented the lesson from Thy United States Government on The Department of the Interior. The club will meet May 28 with Mrs. Walter Weber.
The Milford News prints 450 extra copies this week for Beaver county non readers to boost local interest and subscriptions. The paper thanks current readers, urges sharing the offer with neighbors, and touts advertiser support as essential to a bigger, better local paper.
An unknown man involved in a three way fight at Cline's store near Milford then filed a assault complaint against himself to avoid others, claiming he would force them to bear responsibility for his fine. The battle included frequent knockdowns, clubs, and a revolver, with alleged participants Brunson and Carling. The man did not reveal his name and was described as a horse wrangler south of town.
Mr Stensrude of Beryl visited Nada while en route to Milford with a tractor. A B Dinwiddie and sons Howard and Warner traveled from Escondido California, touring Grand Canyon and parks. Mrs George Meyers and Mrs Rex Sperry with children spent Friday in Minersville with Mrs Roy McGinty. Mrs M H Hughes of Beryl visits her parents Mr and Mrs White and Mrs Oscar Stephenson for the week.
Minersville grade school held a Monday night program. Mr and Mrs Grant Thornton are the proud parents of a baby. The Minersville high seniors hosted a Senior Hop on Saturday evening May 12 at Hanging Rock Park. Mrs Virgine Jameson is giving a wedding flower for Miss Mabel Barnett who will wed Mr Fay Colton soon. Mr and Mrs Ernest Bowen of Lisatelle California visited Wednesday with Mr and Mrs A O Hardy. Mrs Tena Davis has gone to Milford to work for Mrs Jennings.
The Victory Rebekah Lodge No. 48 Degree team from Milford traveled to Provo for the State Convention, presenting their lodge's degree work against top units from Wyoming. Members listed include Captain Vena Wilson and others, with Roy Coleman Ray Stancliff and Harold Crawford receiving the grand lodge degree.
Johnny Brown of Cheyenne lost to Kennie Hollis of Milford when referee Hanchett ruled a foul in the fifth round. Hollis was favored by the crowd for the win as both fighters tired from a low and body-focused exchange. Preliminary bouts included a draw between Kid Alverson and Louie Davis and a draw for Bill Pryor and Brose Hollis.
A Milford excursion to survey a possible road to Panguitch spurred strong local backing. Panguitch editor W J Peters calls for joint effort with Forest Service and Utah agencies to build a year round highway via Little Peak connecting Milford, Beaver and Dixieland tourism, aiming to finish this summer.
Milford Lions club hosted noon session at Milford Hotel with Professor J. E. Hickman and son as guests. Myrtle Colaw Aldredge and Lygia Fredrickson Ilmn Rossiter from Telluride Power Co. discussed a 50 member women’s parts Follies production and management. Hickman spoke of Milford Valley water rights and farming prospects. nominating committee chosen for next year's officers.
About five loads of gravel were placed this week on the street near the post office. Town Trustee L. G. Clay said only a minimum to temporarily ease conditions will be used, as Main Street must be leveled down before paving. The gravel will later be re-purposed to improve side streets.
Alvin Bakers High School band offered marches and overtures in the Orpheum lobby drawing cars and crowds. C A Bailey's Union Pacific band played snappy music at a Main Street intersection despite inclement weather and a good crowd showed appreciation.

John Gunderson the government sheep inspector appears during shearing season. Ida Crawford and Marie Banks visit Salt Lake and Prayo. Mr and Mrs A C Tibbs of Panguitah visit, looking into sheep interests.
