Funeral held for James Potter after Stay district mining years
Funeral services for James Potter 77 native of Springville and longtime Milford resident were conducted Sunday at the local L D S chapel under Bishop E H Bird. Speakers included Bird T L Fillmore and Leonard Banks with opening prayer benediction and grave dedication. Potter born April 19 1858 in Springville Utah lost parents at ten and later lived with uncle William Miller in Provo before moving to Montana then Milford twelve years ago to mine in Stay district before retirement.

Thieves took all the shearing tools from the William Morris corral at Newhouse on a Thursday night last week. The loss to the Escalante crew is about $2000, leaving workers unable to continue. Investigations consider hidden tools or sabotage by non union hands as possibilities, though no proof exists.

Railroad Tools Thief Apprehended In Las Vegas
Paul Novak aged 28 was captured in Las Vegas for burglary of about $75 worth of railroad company tools. The theft occurred Friday night from the toolhouse north of Railroad Row. Allen Hedges, LA and Salt Lake route special agent, returned Novak to Milford. He appeared before Justice Herbert Nichols waived preliminary hearing and was bound over to district court.

The Galena Mining company of Salt Lake City leases eight Beaver Lake district claims to Burns Brothers and Sund. Located 14 miles northwest of Milford, the two year lease enables extensive subleasing as five new workers join the operation. Silver lead and minor amounts of galena copper and zinc are valued, with shafts at 200 and 90 feet and a tunnel nearing the Galena shaft before suspension.
