Lions Nominate New Officers For Year

The Lions Club met Thursday night with Lion President Vance Fisher delivering a keynote address "Team work." Nomination of officers for the coming year was led by J. Smith. Proposals include QW. Evans for president and W. G. White for first vice president, Ben Hillman for second vice president, with Elwood Jefferson to remain secretary. Retiring officers and several directors were named, and a vote of confidence in Fisher was approved. County officials discussed airport funds and paving on highway 21, with only five miles likely to be paved soon pending approval. George Dunn was welcomed as a new member.

Beaver Gold Copper property extends a 100 foot drift on the 600 level as workers pursue high grade copper, lead and silver with new machinery at hand. Golden Reef returns to full operation amid a smelter strike settlement, while Cave mine active cleanup and timbering proceed and inspectors from Salt Lake are expected. Five men presently work at Golden Reef and a 1900 foot tunnel at Cave mine shows deep water but steady pumping progress.

Mr and Mrs Bob Dotson moved to Ploche New where Bob works. Floyd Rollins recently finished medical care at Bushnell hospital and is visiting his parents Mr and Mrs Vern Rolling. Mrs Clyde Marshall sought medical care in Richfield this week. Minersville Grade School staged an operetta The Land of the Rosetree or Sleeping Beauty with all children participating. Sunday evening the Primary Association presented a program. Mach class performed a number. Miss Maizie Roberts of Van Nuys Calif visits her aunt and uncle Mr and Mrs Andrew Hollingshead. A new baby was born to Mrs Viola Pickett last Saturday at Milford hospital both mother and baby well. Mr and Mrs Lorraine Dotson traveled to Salt Lake City on business Friday. Junior High School held annual spring dance with decorated hall. Milford orchestra will play at the Lawrence Dotson home this week. Guests at the Dotson home include Mrs Eva Cooley Mrs Forth Greer and Mr Bernice Fogden of Long Beach all daughters of Mr and Mrs May Dotson. Calvin Carter son of G W Carter is home from the navy after twenty years in the Pacific and has been discharged. Mr and Mrs Elmer Marshall and young daughter Aldene drove to California with their son Fay returning to his naval base for discharge.
