The piece contemplates dreaming plenty while thinking little, placing a few bouquets as aims rise above the ground, and firing a hot shot occasionally, letting the ruminator enjoy watching sparks fly.
Milford visitors included Mr and Mrs W Frank Olson now in Salt Lake formerly of Price. Olson is a Federal Housing admin appointee after the agricultural census. He is known as former Price postmaster and mayor. The visit recalled Olson’s Milford childhood playing organ for dances. Cedar City Branch College will lose King Hendricks and gain Sumner Hatch as new faculty. Hendricks moves to Logan for philological English work at Utah State Agricultural College. The town sees changes at the college and a bustling bakery preparations.
The Milford American Legion’s Days of 749 revival drew a large parade with elementary school performances high school bands and Scouts. A beano game boxing wrestling vaudeville cabaret and a casino dining room party raised funds with a total strong turnout despite cooler weather and out of town guests.
Dr Charles W Hancher longtime superintendent of Utah Missions for the Methodist church will preach in Milford on Sunday May 12 at 11:00 am and 8:00 pm his last sermons before June 1 retirement after 37 years in ministry The evening sermon serves as a Mother's Day tribute and all Sunday school attendants at 10:00 am are invited with classes for all ages.
A special Mothers day program is planned for Sunday evening May 12 at o o clock at the L D S church. The event includes a congregational song a prayer by Mrs. McKnight vocal duets by Ardith Bird and Elaine Kirk talks by Mrs. Myrtle Mills and Mrs. J M Hughes vocal solos by Joy M Christensen and Mrs. Lester Farnon and readings by Iane Sedwick.
Frank D. Williams transmits circular No. 1 detailing temporary rules for special elections to appoint district advisors in grazing districts. Elections must occur within 90 days of order promulgation with notices by the U.S. Land Office and postings at key offices. Voters must be U.S. citizens or have intent to become citizens and represent eligible groups or corporations with one vote each.
W. F. Olson of Salt Lake, FHA special representative, visited Milford to organize local efforts for modernizing existing homes and building new ones. He aims to start a model project immediately and align with President Roosevelt’s June broadcast forecasting national housing starts to employ 350000 workers and stimulate demand for lumber cement and materials. The Milford committee includes J. M. Hughes chair, O. F. Hubbell, J. W. Yepson, D. L. Kesler, Fay Bradfield, Roy Rogers, Joseph Rickerson, Sam Cline and Mrs I L Kelly.
The Milford Bakery resumed operations this week with Harold Lindley, formerly of Julesburg Colorado, as the new baker. He brings experience from top bakeries on the coast and in Colorado and will begin producing bread alongside cakes and pastries. Special this Saturday features devil food squares and raised donuts as the store introduces its new lineup. Max Trautman of San Bernardino arrives to supervise a summer hay farm in South Milford.
Camp notes from Desert Range CCC report Fort Douglas sending mattresses sheets and pillow covers while campers adapt to clean bedding. The unit becomes a regular CCC camp and may move to Beaver mountains again. Baseball team beat Frisco Fly camp twelve to five as telephony work nears June 1 completion.
Mrs Hollis presents a talk as the congregation hears a trombone solo by Richard Hickman. A song follows with Mrs Lethe Martin leading prayer in the service.
Milford fire department opens the new boxing and wrestling arena in the former Atkin theatre building with 27 rounds of amateur boxing and a battle royal on Friday May 17 at 8 30 p m Proceeds divide among the fire department building rental and participants for training expenses Matches feature Milford fighters Tom Mastros Robbie Nichols Doug Kirk Bill Dawson Dave Coleman and others. opponents include from Milford Minersville and Desert Range with weights listed for each bout.
A captain ordered the telephone be reserved for official business, disrupting many plans and causing widespread clearance of prior arrangements. The decision affected communication channels and schedule planning across the unit.
The senior class presented a three act comedy Adam and Eve on Wednesday to a receptive audience. Miss Zola Fernley guided cast and direction. Alden Johnson led Arnold Baxter Armstrong and Roberta Morris portrayed Mrs Armstrong with notable skill. Cast also included Roy Patterson Ina Smith Marie Angell Bill Tribole Patra Young and Beth Patterson.
Milford observes Poppy Day on May 28 with the American Legion Auxiliary distributing red memorial poppies. The event, led by Mrs. W. G. White, involves volunteers and poppies from Salt Lake City veterans hospital. Contributions fund welfare work for disabled veterans, widows, and fatherless children.
Milford Relief Society of Chautauqua will host a two hour program on Wednesday evening May 15 in the L D Recreation hall. The event features music dancing short plays readings by local talent including Singing Mothers Male Glee Club and a play directed by Mrs C A Rohn with dance numbers by Miss Marie Angell and others. Proceeds go to buy seats for the recreational hall watch for future publicity.
Jack Bowman of Beaver was reelected president at the annual Beaver County Piek and Game club meeting held Tuesday evening in Beaver. Other officers elected include Grant Tolton as vice president Ole Boswell as secretary treasurer Rudolph Nielsen and Pratt Reot of Milford as directors TH M Christensen Stan Tattersall and FO Wilden of Beaver named as additional directors.
