Word from Artesia California confirms the death of Ted Weber killed in action March 2 on Los Negros island during General Douglas MacArthur’s early March advance north of New Guinea. Weber, born December 17 1922 in South Milford, was a member of an anti aircraft unit and had a long record in school athletics and Future Farmers of America.
The Armed Forces Institute offers over 300 courses for service members to continue high school technical business and vocational study in the U S or overseas. With Madison Wis as headquarters and branches in five theaters, it connects to 83 colleges offering 700 extension courses with a $2 registration fee for unlimited study.

Joseph as chairman, JC Smith of Milford, and Heppler. A list from the board clerk names Burt Thompson of Milford, Stanley Gordon Green, Boyd Adolph Puffer of Beaver. Thompson was to report May 4, while Green and Puffer were to report May 5 for the draft.
The Los Angeles Union Stock Yards week saw heavier receipts in cattle and continued mixed moisture across California. Steers and heifers mostly steady to higher, vealers up, cows around $10 to $12 with highs near $18. Bulls strong to $12, calves up to $14.75, hogs steady to slightly lower, sows weak, feeders unevenly lower, and spring lambs about steady with prices near $14.50.
A Utah state agricultural program will stop shipments of trees from Clarke and McNary for entry at the Utah State Agricultural Station due to trees growing too large. Professor Whitney Floyd from ULih extension reports the decision, effective May 1, with late purchases to be refunded. The program previously shipped many windbreak and shelter trees to Utah for years.
