Porty-Niner Show a Great Success in Milford

Fair weather greeted Milford for the Porty Niner show held by the Anver wan Legion and Auxiliary to raise funds for the beach park. A Friday band concert, Milford Beaver game, parade, machine gun exhibit, carnival, and dance highlighted the day with Richfield band performances and plans to purchase uniforms. Beaver County contract cuts and local birthday events were noted, along with visitor M. E. Bernet of Mountain States Telephone.

Notice to Water Users in Milford Urges Sprinkling Rules

By order of the Board of Trustees of Milford Wisconsin, water use ordinances for sprinkling will be enforced. Starting May 1, sprinkling is allowed from 7 to 9 AM and 6 to 8 PM. Town Clerk L. Schow signs the notice.

Mortgage Relief Acts To Be Explained At Meeting

Lester and Arthur Williams and Reuben Jones return from a trip to Sally Lake with news that federal mortgage relief measures aid farm and home owners struggling to meet payments. Joseph Anderson of the Utah State Farm Bureau will speak at Milford's South Milford Community Clubhouse Thursday at 8 pm, detailing steps to obtain benefits of the legislation.

Conservation corps enrollment in Utah under state plan

T L Holman and Robert S Hinckley initiated plans to fill 1000 young men and 1800 older men for Utah conservation work. Meetings with Col. Burgess and forest service officials set quotas, forms, and county enrollment roles with US forest service oversight. Applications will be distributed to counties Wednesday with state organizers ready to receive enrollments by early next week.

Community Play Ready For Presentation Tuesday Night

Milford community play Once There Was a Princess directed by Mrs. C A Rohn will be presented Tuesday evening May nine at 8 10 p m in the high school auditorium. The comedy drama follows a small town girl who marries a prince and returns home causing amusing complications. The cast includes Ellen Guthrie Louise Campbell Princess Dellatorre and others with musical and dance numbers as a welcome to the Princess. Committee heads work to complete arrangements for a polished event benefiting the Methodist and L D S churches.

Supreme Court Rules Out Claim Over Horse Hides

The Utah Supreme Court unanimously rejects J. D. Ryan's claim for 142 dollars for hides of 22 wild horses delivered to Beaver county. Chief Justice Straup disagrees on reasoning. Opinion notes trial conduct and nonprejudicial error. Ryan had agreed horses be delivered alive or hides at six dollars each. John James returns home after upstate visit.

Time extended for crop loan applications in six-state region

Government officials extend crop production loan deadline from April 30 to May 14 due to a late growing season in the western states. Salt Lake regional office manager George E. Glen urges farmers to apply through county agents or loan inspectors. about 10 000 applications have been received. Wool prices rise while weather causes losses for sheep and lambing operations. Sportsmen's Canyon Outing Postponed For Snow

The Beaver County Fish and Game Club election meeting will be held in the Beaver library May 9. The Sunday trip up Beaver Canyon on May 7 is postponed due to heavy snow. Howard Gospill returned Tuesday night from a business trip to Salt Lake and Ogden.

Taxation shows gratifying drop in Utah taxes

The April Utah Taxpayer notes a perceptible decrease in combined state, local, and school taxes since 1938, with total taxes at 23,722,811 in 1982. It highlights prior estimates, coordination between schools and taxpayers, and analyses of ad valorem taxes from 1916 to 1982, while reporting local social and personnel movements in Milford.

Milford Beavers edge Milford in season opener 8 to 1

Beaver defeated Milford 8 to 1 in the season opener attended by locals and sponsored by the Milford American Legion post. Dolly Carter hit a sixth inning homer for Milford, while Milford players wore new uniforms funded by local businesses. A regional league including Milford and nearby towns is planned with a meeting next Wednesday in Beaver.
